January is the best time to check out Thailand's hottest new resorts, restaurants and hotels, according to Emily Flynn Vencat's report in Newsweek of tourist zones in recovery mode. Vencat suggests for travelers to the kingdom to visit Sirocco, the Skybar and the Lebua Hotel at the Lebua State Tower in Bangkok, as well as the Lisu Lodge near Chiang Mai. Vencat also highlights the Sarojin boutique hotel on Khao Lak beach, and the Six Senses Spa in Hua Hin.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand announced it would drop its recently launched "Thailand Unforgettable" publicity campaign and reinstate the former "Amazing Thailand" campaign. TAT Governor Phornsiri Mahoharn said the campaign was dropped because it received a poor reception from the private sector. TAT will relaunch the "Amazing Thailand" campaign at the annual Asia Travel Forum at the end of January in Singapore.

More than 5,000 visitors and 2,000 biotech experts and seminar attendees are expected to participate in "BioAsia 2007 Thailand" which will take place from Nov. 7 to 9, 2007, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. The event aims to promote Thailand as a regional biotechnology development hub under the National Biotechnology Policy Framework. Visitors from more than 20 countries are expected to attend the event.
