The Pacific Asia Travel Association reports that despite the New Years bombings in Bangkok, few travelers have canceled their plans to visit Thailand. The Tourism Authority of Thailand stated that there have been minimal cancellations reported from hotels following the bombing. The TAT has also said that a special communications center has been set up to coordinate the tightened security measures at airports, bus terminals, train stations and light rail stations in Bangkok. The center will run for 7 days.

A survey by global brand consultancy FutureBrand of 1,500 travelers, travel industry experts and hospitality professionals reports that Thailand is considered the "Best Country Brand” in terms of value for money, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand. The Country Brand Index examined how countries can be branded and ranked according to key criteria, including practical needs like safety, value for the money, ability to easily communicate, proximity and weather, as well as natural beauty, authenticity, art/culture, lodging, resort options and outdoor.

A recent survey by travel magazine RES Swedish found that Thailand is the most popular tourist destination for Swedes. Those choosing Thailand as their favorite destination spoke highly of the country's food and shopping. More than 190,000 Swedes entered Thailand during the January to September 2006 period, according to Tourism Authority of Thailand.
