Thailand's Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the death sentence for Wisut Boonkasensanti, a gynaecologist accused of murdering his wife and dismembering her body to conceal the crime six years ago. Wisut has steadfastly maintained his innocence throughout his trials. His defence lawyers argued that the doctor had no motive to kill his wife, although they had separated, and the murder had never been proven because her body was never found. The Supreme Court dismissed his defense, as DNA tests had proven that fragments of Phassaporn's body had been found in the septic tank of the building he was living in at the time of the murder.
