A Norwegian man faces charges of trafficking and abusing at least six young boys during several trips to Thailand. According to police reports, the 47-year-old man had posted advertisements on the Internet seeking contact with young boys. Norwegian police raided his apartment in Oslo and seized about 35,000 pedophilic photos and hundreds of films. The trafficking charges were linked to one case in which a young boy was abused by two other men in an apartment the man owned in Bangkok. If convicted on all counts, the man could face a 21-year jail term.

Thailand is preparing its first countrywide report on racial discrimination, to be presented to the United Nations next year as part of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. Justice permanent secretary Jarun Pukditanakul expressed confidence that the country has no problems related to racial discrimination, saying Thailand would be in the forefront of giving and protecting racial equality. The drafting committee expects to finish the report this year, and will then hold public consultation sessions at both the regional and national levels. The report will be examined by 18 international experts who will endorse it if there is supporting information.

The Global Sexual Wellbeing Survey, conducted by condom-maker Durex, has found that about 42 percent of Thais are satisfied with their sex lives. The report also found that, on average, 59 percent of respondents strongly agreed that sex was important to them. Thailand was the lowest on the list in this ranking, with just 38 percent agreeing to the aforementioned statement. Greeks had the most sex out of anyone in the world, with 164 times per year, while Japan was the most infrequent with 48.
